If you are still looking for a really good Windows 8 theme for Windows 7 that even adds the Metro App to Windows 7, you can give this UX Theme a try.

The Windows 8 UX Pack comes with three themes, Windows Aero, Aero Lite and a Metro theme. The Windows 8 UX theme also installs a new logon screen wallpaper, a new desktop wallpaper and adds various Windows 8 features to Windows 7 including a taskbar start Orb, user tiles, the Metro Start UI and the Aero auto-color feature. Known Bugs And Limitation of The Theme (October 2011)

Although this theme works great on many systems it is now flawless. For example I Ran into the problem

expstart.exe – Failed to update BITMAP 6801: 24

After confirming this error message three times, the actual theme should be applied. It looks like the Bitmaps of the Start orbs were not updated, because if I remember correctly 6801 is one of the Start orb BMP’s.

The Windows 8 UX theme tries to establish a connection to 65.55.17.39 vianewgen.exe (%PROGRAMFILES%\UX Pack\Newgen\Newgen.exe) – however that is only a connection to Microsoft and the application is generally rated as safe.

Also, the Windows 8 UX theme does not seem to work properly on dual and triple monitor setups and moves the Metro Start bar to other monitors or does not respond.

All in all, I’d say that this is one of the best Windows 8 themes so far and gives Windows 7 an authentic Windows 8 look and adds many of the coolest features. Top!

This Mac Theme for Windows 7 modifies the shell to make it look exactly like a Mac! You won’t find a lot differences, it’s a 1:1 copy of the original Mac OS X theme. Mac OS X (also known as Snow Leopard) looks really hot, you simply can’t deny that!

Important: You will need to download additional 3rd-party tools to make it look exactly like that. You will need a Mac dock for example, but it’s all explained in our attached tutorials. So, you will hopefully enjoy our Mac Windows 7 Theme!

New Free Tool from Autodesk Labs for Download!

The wonderful chaps at Autodesk Labs have created a much wished-for tool called the Hierarchy Clone. This allows copying and renaming (prefix or suffix only) of IAM, DWG or IDW files, along with any referenced files. It also provides options for referenced files located outside of the source folder. This provides a useful alternative to the dated Design Assistant tool for anyone who is not using Vault (the copy and rename feature in Vault takes care of this with panache), and the existing iLogic Design Copy function in Inventor 2012. One real benefit over the iLogic Design Copy tool is the ability to run the copy operation (which can be time-consuming for large assemblies) outside of Inventor so that you can carry on working and not skip a beat. How to Create a Central Material Library for 3ds Max

When you have a Material that you wish to reuse and share with your colleagues, you can save the Material to a Central Library for all users to access. See the steps below to achieve this:

• Select the material in the Material Editor and pick Get Material.

• In the Material/Map Browser, select the down arrow and choose New Material Library.
• Browse to a network location and create a folder called 3DSMax Material Library.
• The new Library will appear in the Material/Map Browser.

• Select Put to Library in the Material Editor.
  

• Select your custom Material Library and Confirm the Material Name.

• The Material will now appear in the Library.

• Libraries are saved when you exit 3ds Max. Don’t forget to Save the changes when you exit the application.
  
• On the other workstations, select Get Material from the Material Editor, as Step 1.
  
• In the Material/Map Browser, select the down arrow and choose Open Material Library.
  
• Browse to the .mat file created in the 3DSMax Material Library folder on the central network location, as created in Step 3.
  
• The Materials are available to select and import into your current model by double clicking.
  

• If you have maps specified in the Materials, you will need to locate the images centrally also. Add a User Path to the External Files TAB in Configure User Paths, found in Customize Menu > Configure User Paths.
